As cat behaviour is influenced by the environment, behaviour consultations take place within your home. This allows Lucy to understand the underlying cause for the behaviour and develop the most effective treatment plan.
The fee for a behaviour consultation is £190. This includes the initial consultation (1.5 - 2 hours), a full written report including a step by step treatment program and 6 weeks telephone / email support.
Common issues that Lucy can help with include:
- Inappropriate toileting
- Spraying urine inside the home
- Aggression towards people or pets
- Over-grooming / excessive biting or scratching skin
- Scratching of furniture / carpets
- Inappropriate play
- Over or under attachment
- Fears or phobias
Consultations can only be undertaken following a referral from your veterinary surgeon. This is because any of the above behaviours could be caused or exacerbated by medical issues. It is essential your cat is given the all clear, or any medical issues are properly addressed by your vet before any behavioural treatment can begin.
To book a consultation, please contact Lucy for a referral form for you to pass to your vet to complete. Once this has been received, a date will be arranged for the consultation. Evenings and weekends can be accommodated at no extra charge.
Once arranged, you will be sent a behaviour questionnaire to be completed and returned, at least three days prior to the consultation.
At the end of the consultation the motivation for the behaviour will be diagnosed and basic treatment advice will be provided. This will be followed up with a detailed behaviour modification plan for everyone in the household to follow.
Lucy will keep in contact with you via telephone or email for six weeks following the receipt of the behaviour modification plan. Further home visits can be arranged at an extra cost.
Please note that the success of the treatment will rely on everyone in the house following the treatment plan and there is never any guarantee that your cat's behaviour can be changed. Consultations are required to be paid for prior to it taking place and refunds cannot be given.
Due to the influence of a cats environment and the subtly of their body language, telephone or email consultations are not available.
